Support Vextrude
Every donation keeps our 3D tools free for everyone. Help us build the future of web-based 3D creation.
Where your support goes
Vextrude has no investors and no subscription revenue. Running ten browser-based 3D tools in eleven languages costs real money every month, and donations are what keep that sustainable.
Servers and bandwidth
Every tool runs in your browser, but the pages, 3D libraries, fonts and example models still have to be served. Large assets like the WebGL engine and typeface files make up the bulk of our hosting bill, and that bill grows with every new visitor.
Development time
New features come from unpaid evenings — the lithophane generator, the 3D file converter and the print slicer each took weeks. Support means more of that time can go into the tools instead of other work.
Translations and accessibility
The site is published in eleven languages. Getting those reviewed by native speakers, improving colour contrast and keyboard navigation, and testing on low-end devices are all ongoing costs that never show up as a flashy feature.
Staying independent
Advertising currently helps cover our costs. The more support arrives directly, the less the site has to lean on ads, and the freer we are to keep every tool unlimited rather than putting the useful parts behind a paywall.
What stays free
Donating changes nothing about what you can do on Vextrude, because everything is already included. There is no premium tier and no plan to add one. Specifically, and permanently:
- ✓No account required. Open a tool and start working. We do not ask for an email address, and there is nothing to sign up for.
- ✓No watermarks and no export limits. Export as many STL, OBJ, GLB or SVG files as you like, at any size, with nothing stamped on them.
- ✓Commercial use is allowed. Anything you make is yours, for client work and products alike. Do check the licence of any third-party font, photo or model you bring in yourself.
- ✓Your files stay on your device. Conversion and rendering happen locally in your browser. Your models are never uploaded to us, which is also why there is no file-size cap beyond your own machine's memory.
Ways to help that cost nothing
Money is genuinely not the only useful contribution, and for a small project some of these are worth more:
- •Tell someone. A mention in a maker forum, a Discord server or a class reaches people who are currently paying for something they do not need to.
- •Report what breaks. A message describing the file and the browser you used is the fastest route to a fix. Odd shapes and unusual formats are especially useful.
- •Correct a translation. Our non-English pages started as machine translations. If a phrase reads badly in your language, telling us the better wording measurably improves the site.
- •Show your work. Posting what you made helps other people see what is possible with a browser and no software licence.
Before you send anything, check the address
Cryptocurrency transfers cannot be reversed, so a wrong address means the funds are gone. A few habits worth keeping, here or anywhere:
Only ever use an address shown on this page, and use the copy button rather than retyping. Compare the first and last four characters after pasting — address-swapping malware relies on people checking neither. Send a small test amount first if you are moving anything significant, and make sure the network matches the address, because coins sent on the wrong chain are usually unrecoverable.
We will never message you asking for funds. Vextrude does not run donation drives over direct message, email or social media. If someone contacts you claiming to be us with a different address, it is not us.
Donation questions
Why only cryptocurrency?
Card processors require a registered business entity and take a percentage of every payment, which is difficult to justify for a project this size. Crypto lets us accept support directly with no intermediary. We are looking at adding a conventional option later.
Do donors get extra features?
No, and that is deliberate. Every tool, format and export is already available to everyone. Paying supporters get no faster processing, no additional formats and no private builds — there is nothing held back to sell.
Are donations tax-deductible?
No. Vextrude is not a registered charity or non-profit, so donations are gifts rather than deductible contributions. Please do not treat them as such on a tax return.
Is my donation anonymous?
We see only what the public blockchain shows: an amount and a sending address. We do not ask for your name or email, and there is nothing to link a transfer back to you unless you tell us yourself.
I sent to the wrong network. Can you help?
Almost certainly not. Funds sent on a chain that does not match the address are typically unrecoverable by anyone, including us. This is why sending a small test amount first is worth the extra minute.
Can I support the project without donating?
Yes, and it genuinely helps. Sharing the tools, reporting bugs and improving a translation in your language all make a real difference — see the section above.
Thank You
Whether you donate, share, or simply use our tools, you're part of what makes Vextrude possible. We're grateful for every bit of support.
